Hey guys,
Ive got to say, i had completely forgotten i had a blog :D Im not used to periodically coming onto my computer and telling people out there in the complex tubes of the Internet what ive been up to, but i guess i should give you an idea.
Inspiration arrived yesterday in the form of 6 CD's, all soundtracks for BSG and Halo, thank you Amazon. Been listening to them, picking what songs id like to replicate for my short. Do note though, im going to attempt to recreate a lot of stuff that good ol' 'Marty' Martin O'Donnell has done for halo, but not directly take his music and incorporate it. Again, this might not happen since ill probably be running to a tight schedule, but id much rather create my own pieces than just use his, even if they're similar.
Also, Ive figured out exactly what i want for my new computer. Its taken a while, but its shaping up to be a nice little bit of hardware. Leave comments about it if you want to, im still open to suggestions.

003 - Awesome news!
Ive had a chat to my manager, and have wormed my way out of a couple of shifts coming up, which will let me polish my site design and actually add some decent content. Ive got the story nearly wrapped up, with just a few little details to work over, but of course im starting to wonder if i will be able to finish the animation in the time given, as it seems to have grown from the original story.
Hell, im now toying with the idea of extending the story even further, then making the animation a 2 part series, and trying to incorporate the Agents program 3dbuzz have been developing into the animation. Hey, a guy can dream (it would give their program a thorough testing, as well as real world credentials).
Another thing i might start doing is just finishing each blog post with what im doing at the time. I might extend it to what music im listening to, mood, all that other crap you'd expect to find on facebook or twitter (not that i use either . . . much)
What im up to right now: Watching some 'Whose line is it anyway' via youtube, while randomly adding words to this blog.

002 - Telling a story
Hey again,
Ive been thinking about the story i want to tell for a while now, and im starting to get an idea of what i want. Well, mabey. My original idea is based on the halo universe, inspired as i was by the halo shorts that have recently been coming out. Not the 'old men sharing a story' ones, the 'ODSTs shooting and brutes dying' ones.
However, after watching Zak and buzz talk about the story briefly in the 004 project workflow video, i decided that having a backup story would be handy, incase my original story was too expansive. So i went back to the most base of all things awesome and cool. Pirates and Ninjas. From there, i went the ninja route, because pirates smell :p My backup story is based on a little scene i originally thought up back in high school. I was listening to the Matrix Revolutions album, and i was struck with how driven the song Tetsujin by Don Davis.
If your wondering what song i'm talking about, this should give you some idea. Basically, i drew up a quick couple of storyboards showing a ninja running away from some evil dude, he's got an important message that he has to deliver, and the evil guy's sending his minions to destroy him.
Thats all for now, got to go to work :(

001 - BLOGZ
Hey guys,
I hate blogs. Just thought id put that out there, but there is a reason why. Ive so far had 7 or so blogs, but not one of those blogs was made because i wanted to blog. They were all made because my lecturers decided that blogs were handy tools to keep up to date with students work, and so made it part of the criteria. So being forced to blog isnt as much fun as making one yourself (which i might do one of these days).
That being said, im determined to make the most of this blog and actually get some information out to you guys there in internet land. Ive just finished buying most of the software ill need for the course, like the adobe production bundle educational version, zbrush 3.1 (bought before the price change, thanks random 3dbuzz poster), now i just need a copy of max 2008.
This is turning out to be quite a problem, since none of the education software sites i deal with have the 2008 version, and no US sites will export Autodesk products. I guess ill just have to persevere with zbrush for the moment.
Thats all for now, ill have a new post about my story ideas up soon.
